Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell committed to conducting a genuine competition for the quarterback position between Murray, a new addition, and McCarthy, the existing contender. Although Murray predominantly worked with the first team, McCarthy also received significant opportunities during public practices.

Transitioning to a new team and system, Murray, who spent his initial seven NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, benefits from an early starter decision. This allows him maximum time to adapt to the team’s offensive strategies during training camp.
