Wisconsin Democratic socialist candidate Francesca Hong addressed queries regarding the lack of endorsement from U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders. Hong expressed her respect for both politicians, noting their efforts to secure Democratic victories in upcoming elections. She emphasized that gubernatorial races differ from federal contests when asked if their silence suggested skepticism about her chances.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Ocasio-Cortez explained her focus remains on winning the Congress and the Senate rather than state races. She acknowledged not endorsing Hong but noted the importance of evaluating where candidates currently stand on issues.

Regarding past controversial remarks by Hong, Ocasio-Cortez suggested Hong has clarified her positions to voters and shifted away from previous statements. Hong responded by highlighting her campaign’s focus on economic reforms, such as taxing the wealthy, implementing a moratorium on data centers, raising wages, advocating for universal childcare, and funding public schools.

In addition to Hong, other candidates, including Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, state Sen. Kelda Roys, and former Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan, are competing in the primary.
