Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, remarked on Tuesday that President Donald Trump would address the public with images and videos of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and deliver a primetime speech if the administration had concrete information. This statement responds to the belief among some that the government is hiding information.
During an interview on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” host Katie Miller asked Rubio about any conspiracy theories he entertains. Rubio cited his interest in UAPs, although he clarified that he doesn’t consider it a conspiracy theory. He shared, “I’ve been curious about UAPs since my time in the Senate. I don’t know the source or nature of these phenomena, but they’re flying over our military bases, and they don’t belong to us, which we should take seriously.”
He further emphasized, “This isn’t about conspiracy. We need clarification on what’s in our airspace. Some suspect a cover-up, but if we knew, President Trump would likely address it with visual evidence. He’d inform everyone.” Rubio made these remarks during a roundtable at the State Department in 2026.
The Pentagon released several UAP videos in 2026. Anna Kelly, White House spokeswoman, stated, “President Trump ordered the Department of War to disclose files on unidentified phenomena and extraterrestrial life to maintain transparency. Unlike previous administrations, President Trump prioritizes full public disclosure, trusting Americans to draw their own conclusions. The public demanded transparency, and the President complied.”
Rubio also admitted to using UAP discussions as a diversion while in the Senate but maintained the topic’s importance. “It was useful for changing the subject,” he said, “but the topic merits serious attention.” President Trump, during his 2026 visit to SPIRE Academy, fully supported disclosing such phenomena.
Recently, President Trump instructed federal agencies to lift prior nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) for former employees involved in UAP investigations. According to a senior administration official, “The President directed agencies to permit former employees with relevant UAP information to share it through legal channels without breaking prior NDAs.” This initiative involves the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) and the President’s UAP taskforce, ‘PURSUE.’ Although not a declassification directive, it encourages sharing through official means.
Years of congressional inquiries and new data have prompted questions about other witnesses potentially silenced by NDAs. In a July 2026 Cabinet meeting, President Trump supported amplifying transparency around these matters.
Joshua Golembeske, a lead UFO investigator for Gaia, commented on Rubio’s remarks relative to his previous efforts. While finding Rubio’s “diversionary tactic” amusing, Golembeske noted, “This was a tactic Rubio opposed as a senator, where secrecy prevented credible reporting on UAP sightings. Yet, as Secretary of State, he admits using it himself.” Golembeske added that even if information wasn’t directly shared with Trump, it doesn’t negate its existence. Whistleblower testimonies revealed some programs were hidden from Congress and AARO, indicating compartmentalization was effective.
