Patrick Warburton, before becoming known as David Puddy on Seinfeld, once played an intriguing role as Carol Burnett’s much younger lover. On Nostalgia Tonight with Joe Sibilia, Warburton reminisced about working alongside the legendary comedienne. He shared, “I made out with her” when discussing the skit where Burnett, as a soap star, portrayed both a good and evil twin dating a 27-year-old toy boy, played by him. At that time, Burnett was in her late 50s.

Warburton described how adorable Carol was, recalling her jokingly saying to the director, “Oh, we’re going to have to rehearse this some more,” during their scenes. For him, it was reminiscent of kissing a maternal figure since he grew up watching The Carol Burnett Show.

Warburton humorously noted a recurring theme of working with older women. He mentioned a scene with Betty White where she rubbed his chest, and shared encounters with Bea Arthur during a show where the two ended up having sushi together. Arthur being known for her imposing character made Warburton initially uncomfortable, but they eventually had a delightful lunch discussing her passion for rescuing greyhound dogs.

Continuing his career, Warburton voiced the character Joe Swanson on Family Guy since 1999. However, his parents, John and Barbara Warburton, disapproved of the show. They were devout Catholics and saw the program as blasphemous, which led to some familial tension.

Warburton recalled his mother’s attempt to convert Jerry Seinfeld to Catholicism by giving him a videotape. Years later, she left a DVD for Seinfeld after attending his show, stating she only answered to “the Lord above.” Warburton expressed that Catholic guilt occasionally makes him uncomfortable with some of his work but believes that God has a sense of humor.
