Ryan DeWitt, Wade Lytal, and Cole Naylor, fathers of victims from the 2021 Camp Mystic flash flood, recently spoke with Kayleigh McEnany. They shared stories about their daughters’ profound faith, which continues to support their families. This emotional interview highlights how these fathers are coping with their grief through a podcast titled Heaven Meets Earth.

Deep-Rooted Faith

Ryan DeWitt described finding journals left by his daughter, Molly. These were filled with Bible quotes and prayers. Molly, at just 9 years old, was said to have a genuine belief that offered comfort to her family through tough times. Despite Molly’s young age, her faith was deep and impactful.

We knew that she was deeply rooted in her faith.

DeWitt mentioned that Molly always felt her faith strongly, reflecting on how it brought comfort even in the darkest moments.

Messages of Love and Faith

Wade Lytal spoke of discovering a journal entry from his daughter Kellyanne after the flood. He found a poignant message, expressing Kellyanne’s love for Jesus. Such discoveries have provided peace for Lytal’s family.

Lytal emphasized a parent’s responsibility to nurture love for God in their children. Kellyanne’s expressions of her faith were heartfelt and sincere, bringing light amidst their loss.

Finding Comfort in Faith

Cole Naylor, father of Wynne, shared how daily prayer helps their family endure. He mentioned not wanting to speak of his daughter in the past tense, finding assurance in the belief of a future reunion.

Our girls are very much alive.

Naylor’s view of his daughter’s continued existence in heaven provides solace, even though they no longer can touch or see her.

Camp Mystic’s Response

Camp Mystic decided not to reopen for the 2026 season. This choice respects the families still processing their grief. The decision acknowledges concerns from grieving families and Texas legislative members, advocating for a pause to honor their voices.
