The New Orleans Saints selected Jordyn Tyson in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, joining him with Chris Olave to enhance quarterback Tyler Shough’s receiving options. However, it’s Barion Brown, a sixth-round selection, who has captured significant attention during the training camp.
Brown has made his mark shortly after head coach Kellen Moore commended him. On Thursday, he showcased his talent by catching a 46-yard touchdown from quarterback Spencer Rattler during the two-minute drill.
Initially part of the second team, Brown has now earned more opportunities with the first team. This shift indicates a potential rise in his role with the Saints for the 2026 season.

During his college career, Brown showcased his abilities at Kentucky, where in 2023 he received first-team All-American and second-team All-SEC honors. He accumulated 539 receiving yards, four touchdowns on 43 catches, 576 kickoff return yards, and three return touchdowns. The following year, he earned first-team All-SEC honors again before transferring to LSU for his senior season. There, he added 532 receiving yards and a touchdown on 53 catches, along with 445 kickoff return yards and another return touchdown.
Over four college seasons, spanning three years at Kentucky and one at LSU, Brown amassed 2,060 receiving yards, 12 receiving touchdowns, 1,910 kickoff return yards, and six return touchdowns. His speed immediately made him a valuable asset on special teams when he joined the Saints. Now, he is quickly becoming an important part of the offensive lineup.

Coach Moore praised Brown’s performance, particularly his connection with Rattler. “Barion did a great job adjusting to that ball, tracking it. Those are deep balls, and the ball usually tails one way or another because the QB is running, so awesome job making a play,” Moore said.
There’s still a considerable amount of time before Week 1, but Brown’s performance suggests he may contend for the No. 3 receiver position. He faces competition from Devaughn Vele and fourth-round rookie Bryce Lance for these targets.
