Meta Labeled Public Nuisance, Ordered to Pay for Teen Mental Health Crisis

A judge in New Mexico has declared Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, a ‘public nuisance’ dealing a significant blow to the tech giant.

According to Judge Bryan Biedscheid’s ruling, teenagers in the state are experiencing a mental health crisis exacerbated by Meta’s platforms.

The judge ordered Meta to contribute $567 million to a fund aimed at mitigating the adverse effects these apps have had on young individuals.
