The San Francisco Giants have stopped payments to outfielder Harrison Bader following his aggravated foot injury sustained in a scooter accident. Bader has been absent from the field since late May due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The condition worsened after the accident early Sunday in San Francisco.

Giants President of Baseball Operations, Buster Posey, stated, Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison’s prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field. The team is investigating the accident’s circumstances and has suspended payments until Bader can perform his duties again.

Bader joined the Giants with a two-year, $20.5 million contract, including a $4.5 million base salary for this season. He is currently owed $1.42 million for the remainder of the season. Reports indicate Bader was involved in a vehicle collision while riding his scooter around 2 a.m. in San Francisco’s Marina District, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries needing hospital attention.

The 32-year-old was hitting .170, registering five home runs, 14 RBIs, and a .557 OPS in 30 games before he was placed on the injured list. Bader’s scooter troubles trace back to 2014 during college at Florida when a similar incident led to a suspension. He reportedly collided with a truck after hitting a curb, was found unresponsive, and smelled of alcohol.
