Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS football analyst Tony Romo was arrested on Thursday night in Milwaukee. Authorities suspect him of intoxicated driving.

Romo, 46, was stopped on southbound Interstate 43 at approximately 6:18 p.m. CDT. According to Milwaukee County Sheriff’s records, Romo allegedly performed inadequately on field sobriety tests.

He faces one count of allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was subsequently released. Romo is scheduled to appear in court on September 21. This date coincides with the Monday night of the NFL’s Week 2. The top CBS game that weekend features the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the AFC champion New England Patriots.

The arrest occurred shortly after Romo finished an interview with NBC affiliate WTMJ, as reported by the Milwaukee TV station.

Romo spent parts of 13 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys before smoothly transitioning to a broadcasting career with CBS.

He is part of CBS’s leading NFL broadcast team alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. Romo called his third Super Bowl in 2024.

As of Friday, it was unclear if Romo had hired a defense attorney to represent him in this matter.
