Christopher Popps, 54, from Michigan, has been arrested in relation to the long-unsolved case of Patrick Orville Dearth’s disappearance. Dearth, who was 34 years old at the time, disappeared in Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1993.

The breakthrough in this case occurred over thirty years after Dearth’s disappearance. His remains were discovered inside a barrel located down a steep embankment near a highway.

The arrest follows an active warrant and brings a new chapter to a case that has been cold for decades. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Dearth’s disappearance and subsequent death.
