Hundreds of fans with tickets for a Jay-Z concert at Yankee Stadium in New York waited for hours on Sunday night, unable to enter due to a delay in the performance. The delay extended into the early hours of Monday.

Jay-Z took the stage after midnight and apologized to the audience, explaining that the stadium’s doors were shut to ensure crowd safety. According to social media posts, he stated, “There’s 10,000 people outside. I don’t want to start the music and people get trampled.”

A joint statement from the Yankees, Roc Nation, and Live Nation clarified that large groups of individuals without tickets attempted to breach various stadium entrances, compromising security. This necessitated the closure of all gates for a significant duration. With guidance from the NYPD, the gates were eventually reopened with caution to prioritize safety inside and outside the venue.

The New York Police Department referenced the joint statement when queried about the incident.
