Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., offered blunt remarks regarding Graham Platner’s withdrawal from the Maine U.S. Senate race. Platner, a Democratic candidate, exited the race following serious scandals, including a rape allegation.

Fetterman remarked during an appearance on ‘Jesse Watters Primetime’ that Platner was always perceived as ‘a dead man walking.’ He was forceful in his criticism, stating, ‘The trash took itself out tonight. Now people in Maine can vote for someone who isn’t a complete piece of trash.’

Platner’s legacy, according to Fetterman, is marred by the accusation of rape. He added, ‘You’re the guy that cheats on your wife, and roughs up your ex-girlfriend.’

After stepping down on Wednesday, Platner released an 11-minute video on X, defending himself against rape allegations from a former partner, calling them ‘false.’ However, Platner has not been formally charged.

Fetterman’s comments took aim at Platner’s video, suggesting it was merely an attempt for sympathy. ‘No one’s going to miss you, other than remembering you as the accused rapist pushed out of the election,’ he continued.

Platner, whose campaign has been plagued by controversies, also faced accusations of sexual misconduct and domestic abuse. His alleged Nazi symbol tattoo and online messages added to the scandals.

The rape allegation from Jenny Racicot, a Maine resident, claimed Platner violated her in her home without consent. Racicot told CNN that Platner ‘raped’ her by dictionary definition.

Fetterman questioned the support Platner received from Democrats, mentioning Sen. Bernie Sanders’ endorsement. He criticized their choice and called for an apology to Maine voters.

Platner’s departure complicates the Democrats’ effort to retake control of the Senate. Republicans lead the chamber 53-47, and Maine projected as crucial to flipping a Senate seat.
