Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run following an incident in Napa County, California. Authorities report that on Friday, Pelosi allegedly collided with a parked vehicle and continued driving until his car became disabled.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office detailed that the event occurred in Yountville, approximately an hour north of San Francisco. A witness observed a brown convertible striking an unoccupied parked vehicle before proceeding north. Deputies later found the damaged convertible partially blocking a nearby road, identifying the driver as Paul Pelosi, aged 86.

During the investigation, Pelosi reportedly informed deputies that he was aware of hitting something but was uncertain about what he struck. Investigators confirmed that no alcohol was involved; tests showed a 0.00 reading on the Preliminary Alcohol Screening Device.

The sheriff’s office determined Pelosi’s responsibility for the accident. He was not arrested at the scene, a standard procedure for this type of misdemeanor. The case will be referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution. Additionally, a driver re-evaluation will be submitted to the California DMV, commonly performed for older drivers.

This incident follows Pelosi’s previous legal issues. In May 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving causing injury, resulting in three years of probation, five days in jail, and additional penalties.

Pelosi has remained in the public eye, notably after surviving a hammer attack in his home in October 2022. David DePape, the assailant, was sentenced to life in prison for the attack that left Pelosi with a skull fracture.
