A tragic incident occurred on I-80/I-94 in southwestern suburban Lansing, where a person was declared dead on Wednesday morning. Illinois State Police reported that the individual was hit while trying to change a tire.

The accident took place around 5:30 a.m. when troopers responded to a crash at westbound I-80 near Torrence Avenue. According to preliminary information, the victim was in the process of changing a tire when the incident occurred.

In response to the accident, two lanes were closed to allow for the investigation. The Illinois State Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to reach out to ISP Zone 1 by calling (847) 294-4400 or by emailing [email protected]. Witnesses can choose to remain anonymous.
