Hillary Clinton on Maine Candidate Graham Platner’s Controversies

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently avoided giving a direct answer about her support for Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner. When questioned on Monday, Clinton stated, “I feel about him the way I feel about any candidate. I want to see what kind of candidate he actually turns out to be.” This was said at an event at 92NY.

While responding, Clinton seemed to minimize Platner’s ongoing scandals by referring to them as “bumps on the road” concerning his character. She remarked, “The bumps on the road that he has experienced and some of the things he has said…” To which The New Yorker editor David Remnick queried skeptically, “Bumps on the road?” Clinton reiterated, “Yeah, clearly bumps on the road in terms of his prior behavior, some of his prior statements. And I will tell you, I served with [Maine Sen.] Susan Collins, she is going to be very hard to beat. It’s going to be a tough election. So I’m reserving.”

When asked by Remnick where she would vote if she were from Maine, Clinton quipped, “I’m not a Mainer. I’m a New Yorker.” She then emphasized the importance of the Democratic Party regaining control of the House of Representatives by 2026.

Clinton’s commentary comes as Platner faces numerous controversies, including allegations of sexually explicit messages, offensive social media posts, and a tattoo linked to Nazi imagery. The scrutiny intensified following a New York Times article detailing accusations of violent incidents and dubious behavior with ex-girlfriends.

Despite these scandals, some Democratic politicians have continued to support Platner’s campaign while others have remained silent. Fox News Digital reached out to Platner’s campaign for comments.
