The 911 call, received from Jonathan, was released by El País. In the call, Jonathan urgently requested assistance, stating, “I need help, my father has fallen!” He mentioned they were near the Salnitre Caves, painfully noting, “I don’t see him, he doesn’t answer.” This call has become a crucial piece of evidence for the defense.

Authorities arrested Jonathan Andic in May 2026 under suspicion of homicide. He was the sole witness to his father’s fall. He appeared before the Juzgado de Instruccion 5 court in Martorell, Spain. Jonathan’s arrest highlights the shift from considering the event an accident to investigating it as a possible homicide.

Jonathan denies any wrongdoing, backed by his family’s support. Released on a one million euro bail, he must stay in Spain while the investigation unfolds. The Andic family maintains confidence in his innocence, asserting, “There is no legitimate evidence against him, nor will any be found,” as per a statement provided to Reuters.

Isak Andic was one of Spain’s wealthiest entrepreneurs. He founded Mango in 1984, which grew into a global presence rivaling Zara. At the time of his death, he held a net worth of $4.5 billion, according to Forbes. Isak was the non-executive chairman of Mango, leaving his business legacy to his three children, including Jonathan.
