Poll Results on Graham Platner vs. Susan Collins
Graham Platner, a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, currently holds a narrow lead over the Republican incumbent Susan Collins. According to a new poll by Tavern Research, Platner has 51% while Collins has 49%. This poll, conducted from June 5 to June 8, surveyed 1,642 Maine residents and has a margin of error of 2.8%.
In a generic matchup, a Democratic candidate would win against Collins 55% to 45%.
Favorability Ratings
Platner’s favorability stands at 42%, with an unfavorable rating of 51%. Collins has a favorability rating of 41%, with a 57% unfavorable rating.
Allegations Against Platner
Platner, a 41-year-old Marine Corps veteran, is facing scrutiny due to allegations from former romantic partners. The New York Times reported claims of physical aggression by Platner during a past relationship, which he denies, labeling them as politically motivated.
One specific allegation from Lyndsey Fifield describes an incident where Platner allegedly twisted her arm and blocked her exit during an argument. Fifield clarified that Platner never hit or punched her. These claims, despite not causing physical injury, have raised concerns about Platner’s past behavior.
“It hurt,” Fifield stated, referring to the incident.
After the publication, Fifield expressed dissatisfaction with the representation of her account in the Times, claiming crucial context was omitted. The Times emphasized that their reporting adhered to journalistic standards and accurately reflected the accounts provided.
Platner’s Response and Public Support
At a recent campaign rally in Bar Harbor, Maine, Platner expressed gratitude to his supporters amidst the allegations, acknowledging their support in his personal journey through challenging times.
“When hurtful things I said on the internet a decade ago came out into the public, and when politically motivated, serious and false accusations are made against me, Maine, you have my back,” Platner declared.

A Public Policy Polling survey shows a 4-point lead for Platner over Collins, with 49% to 45%. It surveyed 670 registered Maine voters on June 2 and 3 and has a margin of error of 3.8%.
Moreover, a Pine Tree State Poll by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center reveals Platner at 51% against Collins’ 42%, with 2% favoring another candidate and 6% undecided. Conducted between May 21 and 25, this poll has a margin of error of 2.7%.
These surveys indicate a competitive race, with Platner maintaining a slight edge over Collins, despite ongoing allegations.
